Special train and intercity train fares will not be increased tonight (24), Transport Minister Dilum Amunugama said. The Minister said that he had suspended the decision taken to revise the tariffs after receiving the necessary information from the Ministry after talking to the General Manager.
The tariff revision will be discussed tonight. The final decision will then be announced next Monday or Tuesday. The Minister of Transport Amunugama stated that the increase in train fares is only to the extent necessary to cover the increase in fuel prices.
