Diana Gamage attempts to leave the country; Ban on traveling abroad till November 11.Nov.2022

The Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court has ordered Minister of State Diana Kamake to be banned from traveling abroad until November 17.

The court issued the order today (11) when it was taken up for hearing through a motion petition filed by several lawyers including lawyer Gunaratne Vanninayake in connection with the case related to the complaint filed by the Minister of State for Tourism, Diana Kamake regarding the citizenship.

Lawyer Gunaratna Vanninayake said that he filed the motion based on the information received by lawyers that he was making arrangements to leave the country in the event of a case regarding the citizenship of State Minister Diana Kamake.

Accordingly, Colombo Chief Justice Nandana Amarasinghe, who considered the matter, said that while Diana Gamage has been notified to appear before the Criminal Investigation Department on Thursday, November 17, the judge has ordered a temporary ban on her travel abroad until that day (17).

He also mentioned that the judge ordered to notify the immigration and immigration education controller in this regard through PEX.

Lawyer Gunaratna Vanninayake told reporters outside the court that there have been attempts to disrupt the trial before.

Meanwhile, Colombo Chief Magistrate Nandana Amarasinghe has ordered the station in-charge of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to expedite the investigations and submit its progress report to the court on December 15 regarding the progress of the complaint filed requesting an investigation regarding the birth certificate, national identity card and passport of State Minister Diana Kamake.

The judge passed the order when the matter was taken up in court yesterday (10) Thursday.

It is noteworthy that on October 27, the Colombo Chief Magistrate's Court had issued a summons to the officer in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department to appear in court today (10) to explain the investigation related to the complaint made in 2021 regarding the passport, birth certificate and national identity card of the Minister of State for Tourism, Diana Kamake.
