SJB will participate in the protest: Sajith 01.Nov.2022
Leader of Opposition Sajith Premadasa, who officially announced that his party Samgi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) will participate in tomorrow’s protest said it will join the protests even if Police or security forces tried to stop it.
Tomorrow's protest is jointly organized by Trade Unions, civil organizations, and other activists.
Addressing the media after signing a Joint Statement with several trade unions, and civil movements, Premadasa warned the Forces and the Police not to interrupt the protest march which is planned to begin from the Elphinstone Theatre to Fort Railway Station tomorrow.
“Don’t try to stop us as it is our right to stage protests,” he said.
He reiterated that some protesters such as Wasantha Mudalige and the Venerable Siridhamma Thera have been held for 90 days and the latter was not even given paracetamol though he has been sick.
“We are staging this protest against these arrests and the high taxes imposed on people,” he added.
“Some are trying to pass on false information saying SJB will not participate in the protest but we ensure that we will be in the protest,” he said.
