Showery conditions are expected to intensify to some extent in the south-western part of the country today and in the next few days, the Metrology Department said.
They said there would be showers in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces as well as in Kandy, Nuwara- Eliya, Galle and Matara districts.
Several spells of showers are expected in the North Western province too.
Showers or thundershowers are expected in a few areas of Uva province, Ampara and Batticaloa districts, during the evening or night.
Gusty winds of about 50km/h could be expected at times over the western slopes of the Central hills, Northern, North-Central, and Southern provinces and in the Trincomalee district.
Hence, the general public are advised to take adequate preventive measures to safeguard themselves from damage caused by gutsy winds and lightning during thundershowers.
